You’ve heard of Andy Murray Arena, and saw it in action over the last two weeks at Queen’s Club in London. Now, fans of the three-time major champion and Fred Perry curse-smashing Brit will see their hero immortalized on the grounds of Wimbledon right alongside Perry, in 2027.

Deb Jevans, the Chair of the All England Club, says plans are in the works to have a statue honoring Murray for Wimbledon’s 150th anniversary in 2027.

“We are looking to have a statue of Andy Murray here (at Wimbledon) and we’re working closely with him and his team,” Jevans told the Ainslie + Ainslie Performance People podcast.

“The ambition is that we would unveil that at the 150th anniversary of our first championship, which was 1877. He’s got to rightly be very involved in that and he and his team will be.”

Wimbledon erected the statue of Perry in 1984, to mark the 50th anniversary of his first of three Wimbledon men’s singles titles. Perry, who has been a big part of British fans’ pilgrimage to the site each year, won eight major titles in total.

Murray retired last year, and will be absent as a player from the Championships for the first time since 2004.

“Now he’s retired, we’re very much looking at how we can embrace him, for him to be a part of the club in the long term,” Jevans said Tuesday.
