HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

The Women’s Champions League format for this season is slightly different to 2024/25, following the same structure adopted in the men’s game last term.

Instead of a 16-team group stage split into four pools, this season will see 18 sides competing in a single league table.

Where each team used to play each other twice, home and away, under the old system, clubs will now face six different sides, with the venue decided as part of the draw. For United, it means facing Valerenga, Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon at home, and Atletico, Wolfsburg and Juventus away.

The top four sides at the end of those six games will proceed automatically to the quarter-finals, while teams placed fifth to 12th will entered a two-legged play-off to reach the knockout rounds. Sides in 13th and below will be automatically eliminated.
