John Shiels, CEO of Manchester United Foundation, said: “Manchester United Foundation has a presence in all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, working to support young people to make more positive choices in their lives. Unfortunately, our staff witness, on a daily basis, how tough life circumstances have become for our younger generations and their families.

“Poverty rates continue increasing in Greater Manchester, meaning that – while we have been humbled by the donations we have received from Manchester United fans to this appeal in the past two years – it’s more important than ever for us to call on the support of fans once more, to help those less fortunate, especially ahead of another challenging winter period.

“One of the things I admire most about the Manchester United fanbase is the consciousness shown to others and our deep community spirit. I’d urge all supporters to show that again by donating any coats you can – it could offer a lifeline to someone in need this winter.”
